Osteoporosis and sarcopenia are two diseases that affect older adults and which can lead to fracture, frailty, and a decreased quality of life. However, not everyone who has osteoporosis will fracture a bone, and not every older adult will develop sarcopenia (a disease associated with muscle wasting and reduced strength). In this program with physical therapist Dr. Nola Peacock, you will learn to assess your risk for fracture and muscle wasting using simple tests and tools. In addition to the assessment, Dr. Peacock will share practical guidelines for building strength and balance, keeping muscles strong, and reducing the risk of falls. Walk away with 1-2 ways to reduce your risk of bone fracture and muscle wasting so you can continue to enjoy the life you love.
