As many of you know, I LOVE to read! I can always be happy with a book. Here are a few suggestions for this summer.
HEALTH BOOKS
8 Steps to Conquer Chronic Pain by Dr. Andrea Furlan has very practical, evidence-based information for chronic pain sufferers. (I have been one of them—migraine for 60+ years.) I am delighted that Dr. Furlan will join us for our July 26th Wellness Wednesday.
The Upside of Stress by health psychologist Dr. Kelly McGonigal has helped me stop trying to always “manage” stress…because that doesn’t really work. I will welcome back Dr. McGonigal for our August 9th Wellness Wednesday to discuss insights from this book.
NOVELS
Covenant of Water is the much awaited second novel by Abraham Verghese, and is one of the most fascinating and compelling books I’ve read. Don’t be put off by the length (over 700 pages). You’ll be sorry when it ends! I’ll admit, I listened to it on Audible and didn’t lug it around.
Lessons In Chemistry, a first novel by Bonnie Garmus, which is wry, funny, and true. It’s about being a professional woman (and a scientist!) in the 60s.
