Stop the Food Fight: Finding Common Ground in Nutrition
FREE & RECORDED. Times shown are Pacific Time.
In an era when everyone seems to have a strong opinion about what’s on your plate, nutrition science can feel more divisive than unifying. Are seed oils toxic? Are ultra-processed foods the real enemy? Should we eat like our grandparents—or our favorite influencer?
Come join us for an engaging blend of humor and evidence-based science as Professor Christopher Gardner addresses some of today’s most heated food debates, exploring what the science actually says about topics like plant-based versus animal-based diets, organic foods, GMOs, dairy, and more, and helps us move past the noise to find consensus in nutrition today
Christopher Gardner, PhD, is the Rehnborg Farquhar Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and a leading nutrition researcher at the Stanford Prevention Research Center. For more than 30 years, he has led groundbreaking human nutrition studies—examining Mediterranean, Keto, Vegan, Low-Fat, and Low-Carb diets—and their impact on health markers like inflammation, blood glucose, and cardiovascular risk.
A nationally recognized expert on what to eat (and avoid) for optimal health, Dr. Gardner recently served on the 2025 U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee and previously chaired the American Heart Association’s Nutrition Committee. His current work explores personalized nutrition and the gut microbiome. His research is often featured in major media outlets, and he appears in the 2024 Netflix Emmy-winning docuseries, “You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment.”
