Edamame Pasta

Edamame pasta is a super food.  A single serving is super high in protein (24 grams) and relatively low in carbs (20 grams).  You can add any sauce or veggies to it.

Available at most grocery stores or on Amazon.

Cooking Spray

Non-aerosol cooking spray, like this one from Trader Joe’s.  Use it in lieu of cooking oils.

Available at Trader Joe’s or on Amazon.

Atoria’s LAVASH

If you’re looking for a low calorie and relatively low carb alternative to pizza dough, try Atoria’s Lavash.  Top it with a spread (like marinara or low fat pesto), some protein, veggies and grated cheese and broil it for about four minutes.

Check the on-line store locator in your area. It’s available in most grocery stores.

Stonewall Kitchen SAUCES

Stonewall Kitchen has a line of specialty sauces and marinades that are relatively low in calories, sodium and preservatives.  I like their Garlic Rosemary Citrus Sauce with stir-fried shrimp, veggies and brown rice.  Their New England Cocktail Sauce has far less sodium than most brands.

Available at gourmet specialty stores, some grocery stores or Amazon.

olive oils and balsalmics

Sigona’s Farmers Market has an amazing collection of infused olive oils and vinegars which are so much healthier than bottled salad dressings. Just use 1 teaspoon of each for about 2-3 cups of greens and mix thoroughly.

Available on-line or at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto.
