It's almost summer, and I wanted to share a few of my favorite books. While novels always top my list, I have included a new nonfiction book by best-selling author Lisa Genova and a cookbook by our recent Wellness Wednesday guest, Dr. Will Bulsiewicz.
West With Giraffes (Lynda Rutledge)
I love this rousing novel inspired by the incredible true tale of two giraffes who made headlines as they traveled from New York to the San Diego Zoo in the late 1930s. This story, shared through the eyes of a 105-year-old man, explores what it means to be changed by the grace of animals and the kindness of strangers.
The Midnight Library (Matt Haig)
What if you could visit a library where each book had a different version of your life? By opening a new book, you could see the life you would have lived if you had made a different choice at any point. Would you choose differently? Would the outcome be the same? This novel helps us consider what is truly fulfilling in life and what makes it worth living in the first place.
Remember (Lisa Genova, PhD)
I am a huge fan of Lisa Genova's, including her many works of fiction (Still Alice, Left Neglected, and more). In this book, Dr. Genova uses her expertise as a neuroscientist and her gifts as a storyteller to explain the nuances of human memory. I am delighted that Dr. Genova will be my Wellness Wednesday guest on October 9th.
The Fiber Fueled Cookbook (Will Bulsiewicz, MD)
This is more than a cookbook with healthy plant-based meals. It is a strategy for people with digestive problems. Beyond recipes, gastroenterologist Dr. Bulsiewicz helps readers understand what’s causing their gastrointestinal problems and find real solutions personalized to their needs.
