Chronic pain is a very common condition--so common, in fact that over 25% of adults in the US experience chronic pain. It is one of the most common reasons why people seek medical care, yet the underlying reason for that chronic pain may never be identified.
Orofacial Pain
An emerging field of healthcare deals with chronic pain that is specific to the head, neck, and jaw. This is called "orofacial pain." Specialists in orofacial pain treat headaches, neck pain, ear pain, facial pain, TMJ pain, dental pain, and a host of conditions like facial burning, numbness in the face, or even ringing in the ears. This type of pain may be undiagnosed or ignored for years.
